  • Firsts

First broken bone. First surgery.  And at that, it was a leg. Pretty serious thing to have broken.

Saturday went to play paintball at Palmetto Hills ((i think thats the name)). We played a few rounds and I think I got shot 2 times.

We eventually moved over to the "Hill" portion of the paintball place. Its like a valley with a creek in the middle. The two teams are at opposite sides of the hill at the top of the "V". Zack and I went on a team together and decided to move away from the rest of the team and work as a pair. We ran to a 2 ft tall area of cover and almost immediatly regretted the decision after realizing we couldn't peak over to see the enemy without fully exposing our torso. So we decided to move rarther east along the hill. Zack ran to a spool looking cover and i sprinted for a wall like piece. While slowing to a stop I caught some mud in front of the wall and began to slide. Before I had time to catch myself I slipped and twisted my leg inward as my body pushed up against the wall in the opposite directon.

It hurt. Bad. So I sat there holding my leg. Zack ran over to see if I was alright. I told him I was k and that I twisted my ankle badly ( which turns out to be a broken fibula later on) and that I would sit this one out. I then held my gun in the air, barrel pointing up, signifying that I was out of the match. I even put the orange "plug" in the barrel so that my being outness would be even more noticable. My ankle started hurting more and more the more (lol) I sat there. Maybe 5 min after sitting there I noticed 2 of my friends (who atm were playing on the other team) sneaking up beside where I was. I just sat there, still holding up my gun. Then, one of them, whoms name I don't know, shot me. Right under my nipple. I was very hurting from my ankle, and very pissed that he shot me. I yelled "what the fuck?!, my guns in the air with the plug!" He was all like "Im sorry I didn't know you were out." I was honestly in too much pain to care what he was saying. I stared walking toward the other side of the hill to where the picnic tables were. ( which was like 100 ft away.) While walking I could feel the bone in my leg grinding up against the other piece. I started tearing up alot. So i got them to carry me off the field. By the time we got to the tables it was super swollen up and hurt anytime i moved it.

We went to the hospital where we would soon find out my fibula was broken. Lil different then the "sprained or fractured" ankle we had assumed.

So now, here I am. I metal plate attached to my bones with 6 screws. In a week I get a cast. In 6 - 8 more weeks, I should be fine to walk on it. I'll be broke long before then..

Oh well. Please, friends, visit me. Keep me company. With your physical or virtual presence.

    Thanks.

    A.
